Davy Jones, lead singer of the 60s-70s boy band, The Monkees, has passed away this morning of what is being referred to by TMZ as

“a massive heart attack” at an area hospital in Indiana, FL where the singer resided.
Jones was 66.
While I was a bit too young to have followed the Monkees (not that I am that young – just that when the Monkees were a hot recording act I was probably just a glimmer in my parents’ eyes), I can appreciate the impact the group’s fun, vibrant tunes had on music culture and…clothing style back in the late 60′s and 70′s. Odd that I know the words to Daydream Believer and I’m a Believer yet I cannot ever recall having seen them performed by the band who originated the tunes??
Those songs were created when it was AOK for grown men to sing songs about women, fun, love and affection without mentioning what her butt looks like when she bends over. Keep Reading
